Bond denied for Chicago hospital shooting suspect

CHICAGO (AP) - A judge has denied bond for a University of Illinois Medical Center worker charged with murder in the Thanksgiving shooting death of his ex-wife at the hospital's parking garage.

Earl Roberts of Chicago was ordered held without bond Sunday in the shooting of Angela Bonds.

Officers pulled over Roberts early Friday during a routine traffic stop. The officer recognized him from a description in a campus alert.

Both Bonds and Roberts worked in the hospital's housekeeping department. Police have characterized the killing as an "apparent domestic-related shooting." The hospital was locked down for several hours after the shooting as police searched for the suspect.
