BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) - The Missouri State Highway Patrol is releasing information about a deadly hit and run scooter crash in Butler County Sunday night.

According to the patrol, Alexander Metzing, 18, from Poplar Bluff was riding a scooter on MO Hwy. 142 three miles south of Poplar Bluff at Half Moon Lane around 9:50 p.m. Sunday.

Investigators say he was slowing down to make a right turn when he was hit from behind by a dark blue truck. Metzing was killed in the crash.

The pickup truck driver stopped momentarily and then left south on Hwy. 142 from the scene.  The truck should have front end damage.  Evidence and witness statements indicate the truck may possibly be a dark blue Ford.

Investigators say they are still looking for the driver of this truck. If you have any information about a dark blue truck with new extensive front end damage call the Highway Patrol at 1-573-840-9500.
