Man charged with murder in connection with missing Senath girl
SENATH, MO (KFVS) - A Senath man is charged with murder in connection to the disappearance of Breeann Rodriguez.
Shawn Morgan, 43, from Senath is charged with 1st degree murder, according to Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney Stephen Sokoloff.
Morgan has also been charged with armed criminal action and tampering with physical evidence.
According to Dunklin County Sheriff Bob Holder, they still have not recovered a body. Sunday, police are still searching for Breeann.
Prosecutors say they have reason to believe Breeann died from suffocation on the day she went missing.
Morgan lives on the same street as the Rodriguez family, Sokoloff said.
Beyond that they would not discuss details of the case, or what lead them to Morgan.
"That would be inappropriate at this time," said Sokoloff.
The 3-year-old and her bike went missing on August 6 in front of her home on Ode Johnson Road.
"We really want to thank the community," said Chief of Police Omar Karnes. "Everybody really came together and we hope they will continue to come together."
Investigators say Morgan is not related to the family. He was being held at the Dunklin County Justice Center without bond.
Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday at 9 a.m. in Kennett.
A press conference was held at noon Saturday stating the charges.
The Dunklin County Major Case Squad, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the Missouri Department of Conservation are searching for the girl's body and her bicycle in an undisclosed area in Dunklin County.
Investigators say they don't expect anyone else to be charged at this time.
