Off duty police officer killed in weather related crash

CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (KFVS) - An off-duty Mayfield Police officer was killed in a weather related crash Wednesday afternoon.
Andrew Washington, 30, of Murray was traveling south on Butterworth Road north of KY Highway 94 just after 3:30 Wednesday afternoon when his 2006 Saturn hit a pool of water which was standing on the roadway.
It caused his vehicle to hydroplane, leave the road, and hit a utility pole.
Washington was pronounced dead at the scene by the Calloway County Coroner.
Andrew Washington was a patrol officer for the Mayfield Police Department where he had served since 2007.
An autopsy is scheduled to be performed on Washington in Madisonville on Thursday.
