Nick Kelly

Nick is a Missouri boy through and through.

The St. Louis native is no stranger to the Ozarks. He has been to Branson for family vacations, and he has friends and family in parts of the Ozarks. After being mesmerized by his first ice storm at three years old and seeing his first funnel cloud at eight years old, Nick’s passion for weather was sparked. He kept busy at the University of Missouri by being part of the Mizzou Storm Chase Team, getting his start at KOMU-TV in 2008, and finishing school with a Bachelor’s in Meteorology. He also interned at KPLR-TV back in the summer of 2009.

After finishing school, he went to KOAM in the Joplin, MO/Pittsburg, Kan. area for almost 11 years. In his time, some of the memorable events he covered include the Good Friday 2011 storm that ultimately dropped tornadoes around the St. Louis area, the summer heat wave in 2012, the historic flooding after Christmas in 2015, and the severe weather in late May of 2019 that brought a tornado through Carl Junction and Golden City in Missouri.

Outside of work, Nick loves listening to music (especially classic rock), catching concerts whenever he can, reading, playing video games, and following up on the latest car & technology news. If you see Nick in the Ozarks, don’t be afraid to say hi. Also, be sure to follow him on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram so you can stay up to date on the latest forecast and send him pictures of nice & active weather from all across the Ozarks.
