JOHNSON COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) - The Johnson County Courthouse is closed for the time being due to what county leaders are calling structural damage.

According to the Johnson County clerk’s office, the courthouse is closed until the beam can be repaired. Officers have been moved into different buildings for the time being.

A lock is on the front door of the courthouse, as well as yellow caution tape to keep people out. Leaders say the court room is in the annex, located next to the Sheriff’s Department.

According to the state’s attorney, court will resume on September 15. A county meeting will be held in two weeks to discuss the future of the courthouse.
