20th Tour de Corn to be held during the 47th annual Sweet Corn Festival
EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. (KFVS) - The 20th Tour de Corn will be held during the 47th annual Sweet Corn Festival in East Prairie.
The festival will be held Friday, June 25 and Saturday, June 26.
The annual bike ride, which attracts riders from all over the country, will take place on Saturday.
With 850 people pre registered for this year’s ride, the Director for the East Prairie Chamber of Commerce Cyndi Norton said she’s expecting a big turnout for this weekend’s festivities.
“Oh it means the world to our community,” said Norton. “It brings a lot of people, some you only see , some people, they come out and they can visit with family and friends. Some people that don’t live here anymore come back to town for the festival, so it’s a good weekend.”
Cyclists can choose between 15, 30, 60 or 100 mile routes.
Organizers held a virtual Tour De Corn Ride last year due to the pandemic.
They are happy to be able to hold the both the festival and the cycling tour in person this year.
“I think everyone is just so excited, tour de corn and the sweet corn festival is just something so important to East prairie, but then also to all the surrounding communities because riders are out in Charleston, and commerce and Morley, it’s just a great chance for people to really get to see the beauty of Southeast Missouri,” said Tour De Corn Committee member Emily Dahlbeck.
The festival kicks off Friday at 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
There will be food, contests, music, fireworks and more.
Admission is free.
