Train derailment causes road closure in Ste. Genevieve
STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. (KFVS) - Main Street is closed in Ste. Genevieve after six train cars broke loose, traveled several miles down hill and ran into a stationary train near Riverview.
According to Kyle Weiss with the Ste. Genevieve Police Department, it is unknown at this time how the cars got detached, but the police department received a call reporting the incident at around 7:35 p.m. on Thursday, May 13.
The derailed cars were carrying lime.
No injuries and no other damage has been reported.
Main Street will be closed at least until some time Friday.
