Cape Girardeau Co. voting with safety as priority on Election Day
JACKSON, Mo. (KFVS) - The General Municipal Election is just two weeks away and county clerks are preparing for the voters.
We spoke with Cape Girardeau County Clerk Kara Clark Summers who said they will be sanitizing throughout the day, have safety shields up, hand sanitizers and other safety precautions in place.
Clark Summers wanted to make sure the polls are as safe as possible for the election judges and for the voters.
“It’s absolutely important and I know that you had asked if masks would be required and no we will not be requiring a mask but we’ll have those available for our election judges and also for the voters,” Clark Summers said.
Clark Summers also mentioned if a voter doesn’t feel comfortable going to their own polling place, they will have the option to vote at the polling locations at the Jackson County Clerk’s office and their satellite office in Cape Girardeau at 2311 Bloomfield Road Suite 102 as a central polling location or call the office for other options.
Election day is on April 6 from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Missouri.
