S7HD offers free colorectal cancer screening kits to those 45 and older
SOUTHERN ILLINOIS. (Great Health Divide) - The Southern Seven Health Department (S7HD) is offering free Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) tests to those 45 and older.
The FIT test is an at-home colon cancer screening test that requires no prescription or preparation.
It is 97% accurate in detecting blood in the stool. Blood can be a sign of colorectal cancer.
Residents can get their kit by registering online.
According to the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force, adults 50 to 75 should be screened for colorectal cancer, though younger adults can get it.
