FRANKFORT, Ky. (KFVS) - Governor Andy Beshear announced that Kentucky is requesting two federal disaster declarations in order to receive assistance to recover from two back-to-back weather emergencies.

The federal request is for ice storm damage in February and recent flooding that has impacted 20 cities and 44 counties throughout the Commonwealth.

Gov. Beshear stated on his Facebook page that the state is working around the clock to ensure Kentuckians receive the assistance needed to recover from the disasters.

Those impacted by flooding and the ice storm are urged to document their damage by taking photos of all destroyed items. This includes HVAC systems, furnishings, appliances and property damage.

Documentation will help the state receive federal aid.
