Benton, Ky. man charged in connection to U.S. Capitol riot

BENTON, Ky. (KFVS) - A western Kentucky man was charged in connection to the U.S. Capitol riot on January 6.

Clayton Ray Mullins was charged with assault, resisting, or impeding certain officers, obstruction of law enforcement during civil disorder, knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

According to the FBI office in Louisville, Mullins remained in federal custody and is expected to have his initial appearance in federal court on Wednesday, February 24.

Court documents state there are numerous videos and photographs showing Mullins and others assaulting a D.C. Metropolitan police officer.

One YouTube video showed Mullins pulling on the officer’s foot and leg, causing the officer to be dragged down the stairs at the U.S. Capitol Building, according to the court documents.
