MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - The sheriff’s office is alerting business to some counterfeit bills that are circulating in the area.
According to a post on its Facebook page, the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office said they learned about the fake money on Tuesday, February 23.
They said, by law, they weren’t told where or what denomination, so as a courtesy they’re alerting all vendors and businesses to check the currency coming in as a precaution.
If you find a counterfeit bill, the sheriff’s office said you should secure the paper, make a note of who passed it, mark the date and time and try to get any video of the transaction.
You can call the sheriff’s office at 573-683-2111 to report it, or call you local law enforcement agency.
