PULASKI COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) - Illinois State Police troopers responded to a deadly train vs. truck crash on Tuesday, February 23.
ISP’s preliminary investigation showed that around 11:29 a.m., about 1 mile south of Ullin, a 2021 White Ford Truck was turning west onto the private drive McIntosh Lane from U.S. 51 when it pulled onto a rail crossing directly in the path of a northbound CN railroad train.
The train hit the truck and pushed it about a half-mile before coming to a stop.
The truck’s driver, Lanny Stocke, 76, and his passenger, Betty Stocke, 74, were both pronounced dead at the scene by the Pulaski County coroner.
Troopers say there was not a derailment, nor a road closure.
The crash is still under investigation.
