Police: Man shot multiple times after hearing a knock at apartment door

DYERSBURG, Tenn. (KFVS) - Police report they are investigating an attempted murder in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Police said a 19-year-old man was shot multiple times at his apartment on the 700 block of Tucker Street just before 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 13.

The victim told officers he heard a knock at the door and when he headed towards the door he was hit by gunfire.

Emergency crews flew the victim to a Memphis hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

The suspect, described as a black male wearing all black clothing, reportedly ran away from the scene.

Police believe the victim was the intended target in the shooting.

The investigation is ongoing.
