WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) - A portion of Interstate 57 was shutdown in Williamson County on Wednesday night due to an emergency landing.
The northbound lanes of I-57 at milepost 47 were closed for approximately 20 minutes to allow crews to remove a single-engine Cessna plane from the median.
This was between the Route 148 exit and the weigh stations on the interstate.
According to Illinois State Police, just after 8:30 p.m., the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing because the plane lost engine power.
The pilot was not hurt and the plane had minimal damage.
ISP said no other information about the emergency landing is available at this time.
