CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - The Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Breakfast hosted by the Carbondale NAACP is going to be held in a new way this year.

The annual celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. Martian Luther King Jr. is usually held on the Southern Illinois University campus.

In past years, many throughout southern Illinois filled the tables at the event to share a community breakfast together and to listen to key note speakers, presentations and inspirational music celebrating Dr. King.

This year, instead of a breakfast, the event will be held virtually.

The Carbondale NAACP will have a program Live on their Facebook page or participants can choose to join via Zoom. The link to the Zoom invitation can be found here.

The virtual event will be held on Monday, January 18 starting at 9 a.m. through 10:30 a.m.

SIU graduate and community activist Matthew Wilson will be the keynote speaker.

Steven Robinson will select the music for the event.

For more information on the program, contact the Carbondale NAACP at 618-457-7722.
