CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - In Cape Girardeau County, you can now sign up for COVID-19 vaccine, even if you are not high risk or healthcare worker.
“The best thing we can do is to get ourselves back to normal it to get that vaccine” said Maria Davis.
Maria Davis is the Health Educator for the Cape Girardeau County Health Department.
Davis said they created the survey to get an idea of where they are in the phases, to ensure all individuals receive a vaccination.
“We wanted to do this survey because we been getting so many questions about when we’re going to go on to the next phase” said Davis.
It will help to know how soon they can move to phase 1b, for the department and local partners.
“To share with people that here is where you can locally get the vaccine not just here at the health department” said Davis.
Locals told me they see no harm in taking the vaccine and believe it’s necessary just like any other shot.
“I think everyone should get it, just how we’ve all had to get chicken pox and all those other vaccines when we were younger” said Blair Brady.
“There are shots for the flu, I suggest people take that to prevent getting the flu... because I believe it could save lives” said Nakeba Brown.
“We want to make sure that we reach out to all of our healthcare workers, those high-risk people, but also just anyone in general who’s wanting a vaccine” said Davis.
Davis said they do not know how much or when they will receive their next vaccine shipment.
