Homemade explosive found during McCracken County shooting investigation

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, Ky. (KFVS) - Jay Garland of Paducah Kentucky was arrested in connection to a Dec. 3 shooting at 5120 Concord Avenue.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim, Tyler Busby of Paducah Kentucky, in the driveway.

Busby had two gunshot wounds to his upper torso.

He was transported to a local hospital by an ambulance and is in stable condition.

Sheriff deputies and detectives are actively investigating a shooting that occurred on Concord Avenue in McCracken...

Garland was still on scene.

Through investigation, police discovered that Garland shot Busby during a domestic violence situation.

Busby was trying to protect his mother from Garland.

While executing a search warrant at the residence deputies located a homemade explosive.

The Paducah Police Department bomb squad assisted deputies with the removal of the homemade explosive.
