Thunderstorms likely early Wednesday, a few could be strong.

First Alert Weather 10 p.m. 11/24

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) -A strong storm system is moving towards the Heartland and widespread showers and storms will develop late tonight into the pre dawn hours tomorrow. Temperatures this evening will fall into the upper 40s before midnight and slowly begin to warm as we head towards the early morning hours Wednesday. A few of the storms after 3AM could be strong with gusty winds being the main threat. Heavy rain will be possible as well but widespread flooding is not a concern at this time.

Wednesday we will see morning showers and storms move out of the area. A cold front will move across the area during the late morning and early afternoon hours. A few storms may develop along this front. Any storm that does develop could be strong to severe with gusty winds being the main threat.

Drier air will move into the Heartland just in time for Thanksgiving. Temperatures on Thursday afternoon will be pleasant as well. Highs will reach the middle to upper 50s across most of the Heartland.
