CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, attendance will be limited at Redhawks basketball games this season.
However, Southeast Missouri State University is still offering fans a chance to be in the stands.
The college is selling cardboard cutouts to fill the seats at the Show Me Center for men’s and women’s basketball games this season.
Associate Director of Athletics for External Affairs, Nate Saverino, says the Show Me Center will run at about 25 percent capacity during the basketball season.
He says buying a cutout gives fans a chance to support the Redhawks while staying safe during the pandemic.
“All of our games are on ESPN plus, so you might even be able to see yourself on ESPN or SportsCenter or something on some highlights,” Saverino said.
Each fan cutout costs 50 dollars and will be seated in the stands for the entire season.
Fans can purchase the cutouts online at gosoutheast.com/cutouts.
“You’ll make your purchase and then you will submit your photo. And that photo can be yourself, it can be a friend or family member. We’ve even had somebody submit a picture of their dog so we are happy to have pets in the stands too,” Saverino said.
Proceeds from the sales of the cutouts will help fund scholarships for SEMO student athletes.
