(KFVS) - The race for Missouri’s District 8 House seat covers 30 counties.
Republican Jason Smith is running for re-election against Democratic challenger Kathy Ellis.
We caught up with them to ask why each feels they’re the best fit in Congress.
“I understand the needs and concerns," Congressman Smith said. “One of the greatest joys and most important issues that I have an opportunity to work on as a member of congress is making sure that the hundreds of thousands of southern Missourians are getting the services that’s owed to them by the federal government.”
“I have been a clinical social worker and a trauma and addiction counselor for over 40 years and I have been also on several boards and one of the things I really discovered early on was that running for office as a public servant is very much like doing social work,” Ellis said.
Congressman Smith has held the office since 2013.
