CHICAGO, Ill. (KFVS) - Tony La Russa was hired to manage the Chicago White Sox.

The team announced it on its social media on Thursday, October 29.

La Russa, 76, managed the Cardinals from 1996 to 2011. He retired after the 2011 season and 33 years as a manager with Major League Baseball.

He previously managed the White Sox from 1979 to 1986 and the Oakland Athletics from 1986 to 1995.
