KENNETT, Mo. (KAIT) - A full Honors Funeral Service will be held at the Kennett High School Football Stadium for a 35-year veteran of the Kennett Police Department who died from complications due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Kennett Police Department announced information about the service and visitation for Assistant Chief/Major Rick Groves.
Kennett police announce Groves' death Friday.
The post said, “Major Groves was a stubborn hard-headed man but always brought laughter into the room. I think I speak for all the Officers and Communications when I say that you will be missed and this department will definitely not be the same without you.”
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett. Officials ask that anyone wanting to honor Groves, his family or police but cannot attend the event to line up on St. Francis Street to view the procession after the Honors Funeral.
The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the stadium, according to a posting on the McDaniel Funeral Service website.
A brief graveside service will be held at Dunklin Memorial Gardens.
