City licenses no longer required for pets

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Pet owners no longer have to buy city licenses for dogs and cats.

Cape Girardeau city leaders made it official during Monday night’s council meeting.

The city normally made about $4,000 a year by selling pet licenses, but the problem was that no one at the city kept track of who bought them.

The city does, however, still require that your pets get the rabies vaccine.
