ST. FRANCOIS COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - The St. Francois County Health Department Board of Trustees passed a mask mandate on Tuesday, September 15.
The mandate goes into effect on Monday, September 21 at midnight.
The emergency order will require almost everyone older than the age of nine to wear a face covering in public.
According to the St. Francois County Health Department, the Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting to consider approval of amendments to the mask mandate.
The amendments removes language regarding criminal penalties because it is not supported by the County Commission.
The health department also stated the that the prosecuting attorney and law enforcement do not support the penalties or enforcing the order.
A special meeting and vote on a mask mandate took place at 4 p.m. in Farmington on Sept. 15.
The board heard public comments before the voting.
