SCOTT COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - Emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 55 Monday evening in Scott County, Missouri.
The crash happened just north of Sikeston in the southbound lanes.
First responders said three semi trucks crashed at the 70.8 mile marker around 6:45 p.m.
According to Scott County Rural Fire Protection District, after extensive extrications, two people were flown to trauma centers for their injuries.
All three vehicles have extensive damage.
The cause of the crash is not clear at this time.
Scott County Rural Fire Protection District was assisted at the scene by Sikeston DPS, Sikeston Rescue Squad, New Madrid County Ambulance, Air Evac, MDOT, JSH Towing, D&K Towing, Scott County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol.
