CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. (KFVS) - A man is facing charges in a murder investigation.

Zyion Nakeith Cooper, 20, of Grandview, and formally for Hayti, was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of 29-year-old Larry D. McIntyre, Jr., of Caruthersville, on Sunday, August 16.

According to court documents, Pemiscot County deputies responded to multiple 911 calls on Sunday morning, August 16 asking for an ambulance to respond to the 300 block of Grand Street in Caruthersville.

Detectives say McIntyre’s mother found him unresponsive inside the home.

They say they found what appeared to be forced entry at the back door of the home. According to court documents, neighbors told investigators they heard the sound of the door being kicked in and a “jailhouse fight” between 7:30 and 7:40 a.m.

A witness who arrived on scene before detectives said when he got there, McIntyre’s car was still running and his phone was inside the car.

McIntyre’s body was found by the front door with what appeared to be several gunshot wounds.

Zyion Cooper was being held in the Jackson County Missouri Detention Facility and will be extradited to Pemiscot County to face formal charges.

He was arrested on Thursday, August 20 by the Caruthersville Police Department, Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Grandview Police Department.
