CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - A man is facing felony charges after an incident on Interstate 55 on Thursday, August 6.
Alonzo Jones, Jr., 34, is accused of choking a baby while standing in the middle of the interstate around the 98 mile marker and pointing a gun at drivers.
He was charged with first-degree domestic assault, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child. His bond was set at $100,000.
According to Cape Girardeau police, an armed man, later identified as Jones, was driving recklessly on I-55 and had a child with him.
Court documents state he used his 11-month-old child as a hostage, and in the process, choked the child while telling officers he was going to kill him.
