HICKMAN, Ky. (KFVS) - The Dorena-Hickman Ferry will remain closed into Thursday, August 6, 2020.

The mechanic supervising repairs to the ferry engines is optimistic repairs can be completed sometime during the day on Thursday.

It also means the ferry will not be available as an alternate route after U.S. 51 Ohio River “Cairo” Bridge closed for 30 days starting on Saturday morning, August 1.

The ferry closed at about 4 p.m., on July 12, due to a blown hose in the engine room.

The Dorena-Hickman Ferry connects KY 1354 at Hickman, Ky. with Missouri Route A and Route 77 near Dorena, Mo.

Route trip passage for passenger vehicles is $14 with additional tolls for trucks, motor homes and vehicles pulling trailers. There are discounts for vehicles making return crossings.

The ferry is operated by the Mississippi County Port Authority with funding support from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and the Missouri Department of Transportation.
