Amber Alert canceled for 2 Mo. children

MCDONALD COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - The Missouri State Highway Patrol has canceled an AMBER Alert for two children.

According to highway patrol, the children were found safe in Miami, Oklahoma, and the suspect is in custody.

An Amber Alert was issued by the highway patrol for two children last seen around 8:52 a.m. on Thursday, July 9 in Southwest City, Mo.

MSHP reported Hilda Melendz, 35, a non-custodial parent, assaulted a female that was watching an 8-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy.

The children were taken from the home and were believed to be in a vehicle with the suspect’s mother and possibly heading to Mexico.

MSHP believed the children were in danger.

At approximately 5 p.m. on Thursday, the highway patrol said the grandmother and the Ford Flex were found in Stroud, Oklahoma. They reported the mother and children were believed to now be in a different vehicle, a cream-colored Kia Soul with an unknown Oklahoma registration.

At approximately 12:16 a.m. on Friday, MSHP canceled the Amber Alert for the two children.
