FULTON COUNTY, Ky. (KFVS) - The Dorena-Hickman Ferry resumed service at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 5.
The ferry halted service at the end of the normal service schedule on May 28 due to rising floodwaters covering the Kentucky Landing.
The Dorena-Hickman Ferry normally has to close when the gauge at Cairo exceeds 44 ft., putting floodwaters above where the ferry can operate.
Crews removed drift early Friday morning in order to resume service as soon as possible.
The Dorena-Hickman Ferry connects KY 1354 at Hickman, Ky. with Missouri Route A and Route 77 near Dorena, Mo.
It is the only direct route between the two states.
