MURRAY, Ky. (KFVS) - A crash blocked traffic on KY 94, at the 20.8 mile marker, east of Murray.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, an overturned commercial vehicle hauling dry fertilizer overturned on Monday morning, April 27.
At around 8:20 a.m., the Calloway County Sheriff’s Office 911 center received a report of the crash. The caller said the vehicle overturned and there was one person trapped inside.
According to the sheriff’s office, the driver of the vehicle was removed from the wreckage by Calloway County Fire-Rescue and Murray-Calloway County EMS and taken to an area hospital.
After an investigation, deputies say it appeared the vehicle dropped off the right side of the road for an unknown reason, causing the 44,480-pound load of fertilizer to shift. This caused the semi and trailer to overturn and come to a rest upside down on the right side of the road.
According to KYTC, 50 gallons of diesel and 3 gallons of hydraulic fluid also spilled.
The road was closed for several hours due to clean up and removal of the wreckage.
The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by CCFR, EMS, Calloway Co. Emergency Management and the State Highway Department.
Henry Farmers Coop was on scene for clean up.
