FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ill. (KFVS) - Crews wokred the scene of a semi truck rollover crash on Interstate 57 southbound on Tuesday morning, April 21.
According to a Nixle Alert from the Franklin County Emergency Management Agency, the crash was at the 71 mile marker just south of the Benton-West City exit.
The Illinois State Police preliminary investigation showed a 2020 brown Peterbilt truck tractor semi trailer combination was going south on I-57 near mile post 70.5 in Franklin County.
They said it was in the right lane of traffic when the driver told them a truck tractor semi-trailer combination was in the left lane and started drifting into his lane.
The driver of the first semi truck moved over onto the shoulder portion of the road to avoid being hit by the drifting truck.
ISP troopers say he then lost control, hit a guardrail and overturned in the right ditch.
They say the driver, a 46-year-old Atlanta, Georgia man, was uninjured.
The right lane of I-57 shut down for removal of the crashed commercial vehicle.
As of 10 p.m. all lanes are back open.
