Mother charged, 2 children die in Cadiz, Ky. fire

CADIZ, Ky. (KFVS) - A mother is facing charges after two children died in a fire.

At approximately 1:50 p.m. on April 7, Kentucky State Police responded to a fire on Jefferson Street in Cadiz.

Troopers say they found the bodies of two juveniles inside the home. Both were pronounced dead by the Trigg County coroner.

Autopsies will be conducted on April 8.

According to KSP, Keyona Bingham, 30, of Cadiz, left her children unattended inside the home and during that time frame, a fire started inside.

Troopers arrested Bingham and charged her with two counts of wanton endangerment - 1st Degree (Class D Felony).

The origin of the fire has not been determined.

A portion of KY 139 near the 17.5 mile point between Thomas Street and Hayden Street in Cadiz was closed for several hours due to the fire.
