Severe weather causes damage throughout the Heartland

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Severe weather caused damage throughout the Heartland on Friday night, Jan. 10 into Saturday.

Damaging winds, and flash flooding caused extensive damage along Birk Ln. in Jackson, Missouri.

One business was destroyed by the storm.

Two other businesses had their roofs blown off and windows blown out.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Storm damage temporarily closed the Walmart store in Benton, Ky. The store has since reopened.

Several emergency officials responded to damage reports.

Saturday’s storm also brought destruction to the Egypt Mills area, just north of Cape Girardeau.

Strong winds destroyed sheds, downed trees and power lines and knocked-over outdoor play equipment.

The storm left a path of small destruction along Cape Girardeau County Road 634 and Highway 177.

In southern Illinois, there were multiple reports of downed trees.

In Ware, in Union County, a tree fell onto a vacant home.

Storms also knocked out power to hundreds of customers throughout the Heartland. Power has since been restored.
