Man arrested for DUI after hit and run in Carbondale

CARBONDALE Ill. (KFVS) - A Paducah man is arrested after he hits a light pole and a parked car with his vehicle.

According to the Carbondale Police Department, on December 28, around 1:40 a.m, officers received a report about a hit and run crash at the intersection of West Grand Avenue and South Illinois Avenue in Carbondale.

A witness said that a vehicle crashed into light pole. Witnesses followed the vehicle and saw it hit a parked car on the 700 block of South Illinois Avenue, no one was inside the parked car.

Officers where able to stop the vehicle at the intersection of West Cherry Street and South Illinois Avenue. During the traffic stop officers found that Wesley Overstreet, 31, of Paducah Ky. was found to be impaired and was arrested. During the investigation officers also found Overstreet, to be in possession of narcotics without a prescription, and other controlled substances

Overstreet was taken to the Jackson County Jail where he was charged with possession of a controlled substance, DUI and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

He also suffered minor injuries as a result of one or both crashes.
