38 animals removed from Mayfield home

MAYFIELD, Ky. (KFVS) - The Graves County Sheriff’s Office has charged one person with 38 counts of animal cruelty.

On Dec. 30, authorities conducted a welfare check at the 300 block of Boone St. in Mayfield. During the welfare check authorities discovered 34 dogs and 4 cats inside the home, many of the animals were malnourished and ill.

The Graves County Sheriff’s Office has charged Shirley W. Futrell, 67, of Mayfield Ky. with 38 counts of 2nd degree cruelty to animals.

Conditions inside the home, that was deemed not livable by the Mayfield City Code Enforcement.

The Mayfield-Graves County Animal Shelter Volunteers came to the scene and took the dogs and cats. The Animal Shelter also received assistance from Graves County Jail Inmate workers in loading the animals.

Mayfield-Graves County Animal Shelter will be evaluating these animals, providing them care and they soon will be available for adoption.
