INA, Ill. (KFVS) - Now is the time to sign up for special interest classes offered this January at Rend Lake College.

Get hands-on experience in mounting your own bird, deer or small animal in the Taxidermy class taught by Fred Lawrence. Participants will learn the art of preserving, mounting and displaying animal skins. The class starts Thursday, Jan. 2 in the Advanced Tech Center, Room 151, at a cost of $120 plus supplies. Classes are 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and run through Jan. 30.

Combine the muscle sculpting benefits of Pilates, the flexibility of yoga, and cardio all into one class and you get PiYo. The class costs $25 and starts Tuesday, Jan. 7 in the gym, Room 110. Classes are 1-1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and run until Feb. 6.

Get a full-body workout while banging on a drum in Pound class. The cost is $50 and the class starts Thursday, Jan. 9 on the Main Campus, REC, Room 119 and runs 4:45-5:45 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays through Feb. 11.

Learn the skills to needed to create your own home decor at the Stencil and Paint Workshop. Participants can create items such as wood signs, pillow cases, wall hangings, porch signs, doormats, table placemats and zipper pouches among many more. Sharon Corn is the instructor and the class costs $15 plus a $10 supply fee per session. Class begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14 at Rend Lake College’s Learning Resource Center, Room 103.

Previously known as aerobics, Body Toning improves flexibility, strength and coordination. The class, taught by Jody Martin, begins at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27 at Benton Middle School in the choir room. Classes are from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays through April 27.

Learn how to build a safe street rod, and all the other components that come with it. A 1939 Chevy Coupe will be used for demonstration and RideTech will perform a demonstration of their suspension parts. The course, taught by Jody Martin, runs 6-9 p.m. on Tuesdays from Jan. 28 to March 10 in the Vocational Building, Room 125.
