CARMI, Ill. (KFVS) - Police in Carmi, Illinois are investigating after a trailer was stolen on Thursday, Nov. 7.

Police said a box trailer was taken from a work site at a Subway on Main St.

It happened around 6:28 a.m. Thursday morning.

According to police, the trailer owner reported that the trailer had been parked on College Boulevard, just south of Main Street. A worker arrived at the site and called the owner to tell him it was missing.

The trailer was described as a black 2001 US Cargo box trailer. The VIN is 4X4UTS4201W003772. The plate is unknown at this time. According to the police report, it contained 20 sets of scaffold, braces, wheels and boards.

Police provided photos of the trailer and suspect vehicle on social media.

Police say a check of the CWC High School surveillance footage showed a dark blue over silver Chevrolet Silverado pull onto College Blvd. at 6:28 a.m. A short time later, they say the truck can be seen pulling in front of the trailer in the northbound lane of College Blvd. At 6:33 a.m., the truck pulls onto Main St. eastbound with the stolen trailer attached.

The truck is seen on other businesses’ surveillance footage driving eastbound on Main St. and driving across the Little Wabash Bridge into East Carmi. The truck is then seen on Maier’s Grocery surveillance continuing northbound on Route 1 through Crossville.

Officers with the Grayville Police Department will be checking footage in Grayville to see if the truck continues on Route 1 or turns off prior to reaching Grayville.

Anyone with information about the truck pictured or the trailer is asked to call Carmi Police at 1-618-382-4633.
