(KFVS) - In 2009 a crippling ice storm shut down the southern half of the Heartland.

More than 7,000 homes lost power for weeks.

The Heartland came together to provide food, shelter and a warmth for those affected.

Laura Wibbenmeyer remembers the sound that sent shivers down her spine.
