MARION, Ill. (KFVS) - Williamson County Fire Protection crews were on the scene of a fire at a salvage yard in Marion, Illinois.
It happened around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 15.
The Fire District said there was a large pile of railroad ties on fire with equipment in danger. It happened at Vernell’s Salvage Yard behind Home Depot.
It started with a small burn pile that got into dry grass that spread to a pile of railroad ties. The equipment was saved, there was no injuries or damage to anything else according to the Fire Protection District Station 5.
Marion Fire was also at the scene.
Marion police said the scene was cleared around 10:40 p.m.
