Cape Catfish defeated 5-2 in Prospect League Championship to finish their first season
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The Cape Catfish play the Chillicothe Paints for the Prospect League Title on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m.
The Western Division Champion Catfish beat the East Division Champion Paints in game one of the series on the road and Chillicothe won game two at Capaha Field.
The game remained scoreless until the until the 4th inning. There the Paints scored first on a home run and the Catfish answered back in the bottom of the inning to tie it up 1-1.
Andrew Stone gave the Catfish a lead in the bottom of the 5th to make it 2-1 Cape Catfish.
The Paints roared back in the top of the 6th with a grand slam by Sikeston, Mo. native Trey Smith.
That would be all the Paints needed as the won it 5-2 to claim the Prospect League Championship.
There was some controversy at the end of the game over the number of pitches from the Paints’ starting pitcher, but the official ruling for now is a 5-2 Paints win.
Game three was also be played at Capaha.

This is the first year for the Catfish in the Prospect League.
