Butler Co., Mo. coroner, his wife under investigation

Audit centers on funeral home finances

BUTLER COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - The Butler County coroner and his wife are the focus of a criminal investigation.

Sergeant Clark Parrott with the Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed they are investigating Andy Moore and his wife, Amanda, at the request of the Butler County Prosecutor.

According to Parrott, the investigation dates back more than a month and centers on a financial audit of Moore Funeral Service where both used to work.

We received the following statement on Monday from Scott Robbins, the attorney for Moore Funeral Home:

“Moore Funeral Service is aware of the Missouri Highway Patrol investigation of Andy and Amanda Moore. Mr. and Mrs. Moore are no longer working for the business. Moore Funeral Service remains open for business and ready to assist with any immediate need or preneed, funeral or cremation arrangements. Moore Funeral Service has no further comment at this time”

We reached out to Moore for comment on the criminal investigation. He released the following statement on Monday afternoon:

“It has been brought to my attention that some former disgruntled business partners have made false and untrue allegations concerning the funeral home that Mandy and I built. This matter is in litigation presently to determine the ownership and management of the funeral home. There has certainly been no wrongdoing on our part and this appears to be a underhanded attempt to blacken my good name and reputation.”

Moore became coroner in 2016.
