Ruby Tuesday, O’Charley’s to close in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Two businesses closing

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Two Cape Girardeau restaurants are closing their doors.

According to the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce, Ruby Tuesday and O’Charley’s are shutting down.

Ruby Tuesday is already closed. Signs about the closure were posted on the front door.

"Our Cape Girardeau location will close after business on Sunday, June 2. As a longtime part of this community, we appreciate our guests and the many friends we made over the years. We are grateful to our team members who so capably served our guests and are assisting them in transitioning to other stores or new employment.”

Senior Marketing Director Jeff Hingher also said gift cards may be redeemed at any O’Charley’s location. You can click here for a full list of locations.

Drury Southwest is the landowner.

According to Herb Wedemeier, senior VP and general counsel with Drury Southwest, they reached an agreement with both O’Charley’s and Ruby Tuesday to terminate each of their leases. He said these were two separate deals.

Wedemeier said both businesses have been great and a “tremendous experience for the community.” However, he said they reached a time where they feel the need to move forward.

He said, currently, they are looking at redevelopment opportunities, “something that can fully take advantage of the great location.”

Rumors suggested Steak 'n Shake was also closing. However, the business posted multiple times saying they are not closing anytime soon.
