CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - The Missouri Department of Transportation crews will start building an elevated road using gravel on Route 177 in Cape Girardeau beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, June 3.
This is from County Road 651 to County Road 657, near Gizmo Lane.
According to MoDOT, this will prevent a complete closure due to flooding as it will be reduced to one lane only for local traffic.

Fire crews responded to call of a vehicle in the water on Highway 177 near Gizmo Lane in Cape Giradeau County on Sunday, May 26.
It happened just before 3 p.m.
According to Asst. Chief Mark Hasheider, a car drove around a barrier and got stuck.
Firefighters waded out to the vehicle and help get two adults and one teenager to safety.
