First Alert Friday Outlook

Heat, thunderstorms....

First Alert 10pm forecast 5/17

Our taste of summer continues today with warm, humid and breezy conditions. Afternoon highs today look to be a touch higher than on Thursday, which will put us in the 85 to 90 range. Otherwise it should be mainly sunny with high pressure aloft keeping a lid on things. Dry, warm weather continues into tomorrow as well, but active and stormy weather still threatens this weekend.

A significant severe weather outbreak is likely this weekend over the southern plains. These storms will be approaching our western counties by sunset tomorrow but should be weakening as they move in. None the less our western counties are in a slight risk of severe for Saturday. This activity moves into our region overnight and Sunday morning….with a slight to marginal risk for Sunday. Right now it looks like Sunday morning could be our most active period….but a few thunderstorms could redevelop in the afternoon along a cold front Behind this front it looks a bit cooler and quieter for next Monday, but more storms look likely Tuesday into Wednesday of next week.
