CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - A Carbondale, Illinois man has been sentenced to the Illinois Department of Corrections.
Anthony C. Thompson, 42, of Carbondale, pleaded guilty to residential burglary, a class one felony, and theft, a class three felony on May 16.
United State’s Attorney in Williamson County said Thompson was sentenced to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (DOC) for the burglary charge, and three years in DOC on the theft charge. The sentences are ordered to run concurrently.
Herein, Ill police officers responded to a reported burglary on October 22 in 2017. Officials said their investigation led them to Thompson, who was charged with the burglary the following day.
On January 15 in 2019, Marion police officers investigated a reported stolen vehicle. Police said they found the vehicle, and were led them to Thompson. Thompson was then charged with the theft of the vehicle.
Officials said Thompson has an extensive criminal history, with prior felonies in Williamson, Franklin and Jackson Counties.
Thompson will be on two years of mandatory supervised release following his release from DOC.
