A taste of summer is in store for our area for the next few days (and perhaps beyond) as an upper ridge aloft combines with southwest surface winds. Highs over the next few days look to jump up into the mid to upper 80s….and could touch 90° in a few locations especially Friday. Dew points in the 60s will make it more humid as well. Skies look to remain dry despite the warm temps as upper level high pressure keeps a lid on things, but this will change over the weekend.
The period from Saturday thru about next Wednesday or so is looking rough again…with occasional periods of showers and thunderstorms. The first wave looks to roll in Saturday night or early Sunday (still a bit early to pin point) with another wave about Tuesday night or Wednesday of next week. There will be a threat of heavy rain and strong to severe storms with each of these events. Given the busy weekend locally with the air show, etc…..this will be something to monitor. Another issue will be the threat of more heavy rains over the Midwest in general.
