Kennett officials investigate deadly stabbing

Deadly stabbing in Kennett, Mo.

KENNETT, MO (KFVS) - Police in Kennett, Missouri said a man was found stabbed on Tuesday, May 14 at 4:28 a.m.

Police said they responded to a home on Legion St. in reference to a reported stabbing.

John W. Ward, 37 of Kennett, was found lying outside the home with a stab wound to his chest, according to police.

Ward was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries.

Police an altercation led to the victim being stabbed by a 35-year-old Kennett man.

Police said that man has cooperated with the investigation.

No arrests have been made and no charges have been filed at this time, police said.

Police said they do not believe there is a danger to the community at this time. They called it an isolated incident.

The investigation is being conducted by the Kennett Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Dunklin County Sheriff Office.
